    To decide what text is (helping verb - an irregular verb) as auxiliary: decide on the helping verb in its appropriate auxiliary inflection.

    To decide what text is (uninflected verb - an irregular verb) in its (verb inflection - a number):
        if the uninflected verb is at least contraction-for-is and the uninflected verb is at most aren't*: [ Then convert "is/are" to "am/be" if need be. ]
            if the story viewpoint is first person and the prior named noun is nothing and the verb inflection is the base present plural form:
                choose row (((the uninflected verb as a number) minus (contraction-for-is as a number)) plus one) from the table of additional inflected forms of be;
                decide on the irregular-verb-form entry;
            otherwise if the verb inflection is the infinitive form:
                choose row (((the uninflected verb as a number) minus (contraction-for-is as a number)) plus four) from the table of additional inflected forms of be;
                decide on the irregular-verb-form entry;
        otherwise: [ For all verbs except are*, the infinitive is identical to the present plural, so fold the value. ]
            if the verb inflection is the infinitive form, now the verb inflection is the base present plural form;
        choose row ((((the uninflected verb as a number) minus 1) multiplied by the number of verb inflections) + the verb inflection) from the table of irregular verbs;
        decide on the irregular-verb-form entry.
