Section: Map size
We can also specify the maximum dimensions of our map, in tiles. This can be used to restrict the size of the map for either performance or aesthetic reasons. For example, a fixed map size combined with a restricted number of available zoom levels can make it easier to predict the output size of the map. The maximal width and height values are attached to the map window object (as properties):
The maximum map width of the map-window is 80.
The maximum map height of the map-window is 40.
Of course, if the window isn't large enough to accommodate a map of these dimensions at the present zoom level, then the largest possible size will be used. Also note that if the "automap reserved area" limit is lower than the product of the map width and height, then the map will only grow as large as the reserved area. Be sure that your automap reserved area is at least as large as the product of the maximum map width and height.
